Sonia Gandhi Summoned

Congress president Sonia Gandhi was served a US court summons in hospital, in a case accusing her of shielding party leaders allegedly involved in the anti-Sikh riots of 1984. This summons doesn't allow Sonia Gandhi to enter US without being arrested. Since she is not a government figure (PM or President), she doesn't have the immunity. The Congress government in India seems to have taken this up with Mr John Kerry. However, Mr Kerry refused to interfere

This leaves Smt Sonia Gandhi with no choice for continuing her medical treatment in U.S. This has irked the government a lot and the reaction came in the form of Devyani Khobragade
